Meet the team

Our dedicated team of staff supports our volunteers to provide emergency food and practical support to people who have been left without enough money to live on. 

Behind the numbers of parcels and tonnes of food sent out to our local community, is the amazing staff and volunteer team who make Warwick District Foodbank what it is!

Nancy head shot

Nancy Deakin

Head of Foodbank

Nancy’s role is to ensure the provision of an effective food bank service in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth . Nancy is also responsible for the management of the team and smooth running of the team as set out by the Trustees. She is also responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and for building relationships with key stakeholders such as Referral Agencies, donors, charities, and local organisations.

Miriam Bowen

Warehouse Manager/Session Leader

Miriam’s role at the warehouse is to manage stock levels to ensure the weekly deliveries to our centres are fulfilled.  She co-ordinate’s the delivery team, warehouse volunteers & supermarket collections.  When not at the warehouse Miriam leads the distribution sessions at Lillington & St Paul's, serving our clients & organising the volunteer teams.

Lynn Aston

Operations Co-Ordinator

Lynn’s role is to help Nancy with the day-to-day operational running of the foodbank leading on social media, communication and preparing the data pack for Trustees. Lynn also helps out with recruitment of volunteers and liaising with referral agencies.

Pamela is the session leader for Westbury Centre which is open to the public on Fridays.

Alison is the session leader for Heathcote based at Heathcote Parish Church which is open to the public on Mondays.

John Holmes

Finance Officer

John’s role is to look after and manage all things financial, paying bills and invoices, managing donations and financial governance. John also prepares financial reports and forecasts for the Trustees.

Dominik Hancock

Delivery Driver

Dom is our main driver who works with volunteers and collects donations from supermarkets and other donation points and delivers all new stock to our distribution centres.

Shane Cowen

Warehouse Coordinator

Shane helps out in and around the warehouse and various centres during the week.

Tony O'Brien

Chair

Tony became a trustee and was elected Chair in May 2024. Tony also volunteers at St Paul’s food bank.

Tony spent most of his working life overseas. He has over 50 years of experience in educational, cultural and creative fields and has been a board member and chair of various organisations.

He enjoys travelling and his priorities are to be the best he can be - as a husband, father of three and grandfather of six - and in sharing the love of Jesus.

Trustee

Sonali Datir is a business strategy expert with extensive experience in the technology sector. Passionate about creating lasting, positive change, she joined as a trustee in October 2025 to help strengthen its mission of supporting individuals and families in need. 

By applying strategic insight and a results-driven approach, Sonali aims to help the charity grow its impact and continue making a real difference.

Peter Davies

Trustee

Peter is a retired GP, so he knows about the reality of people’s lives. He has had previous experience of being a trustee in several Christian charities. He also volunteers at one of the distribution centres so knows well the “front line” of working in a food bank.

He lives locally and is married to Laura. They had four children, so is he used to being busy and organised. Away from pressures he enjoys gardening, jigsaws, archaeology and astronomy.

Rachel Budd

Trustee

Having started volunteering after the Covid pandemic, Rachel felt prompted by God to get more involved in supporting the vulnerable in the local community.

Rachel has worked across the NHS and in the charitable sector (various churches and Citizens Advice South Warwickshire).

Rachel married Rob in 2002 and is blessed with three children and they are an active, hospitable family who enjoy most sports, good food and great company!

Donna Bloy

Trustee

Donna became a trustee in May 2023, having been inspired by others in her church who had actively supported WDF for some years. Donna also volunteers in the warehouse which helps her see the importance of redistribution in action.

Donna works for a specialist dementia nursing charity. Travel remains a favourite pastime, ideally accompanied by family, to better see, experience and understand God's marvellous world and how we can best live in it.

Ella O'Brien

Trustee

Ella became a trustee in September 2024 and wanted to put her professional skills and experience as a contract lawyer to good use in a charitable way.

She finds her role as trustee very rewarding and is so impressed by the fantastic team - working together with the sole aim of bringing an end to food poverty in the local community.

Ella lives near Warwick with her young family and loves going to watch musicals in her spare time.

Martin Wallis

Trustee

Martin joined as a trustee in April 2025 and has been extremely impressed with the great work that’s being done in and around the local community.

With two young adult children, Martin has lived in Leamington for the last 15 years, working as a business consultant. More recently, he has become an Adviceline volunteer for Citizens Advice, which is how he become aware of the great work being done by the food bank.
